First Grade can't stand not to paint their...

HANDS!
Now they ain’t gonna paint no more.

As inspiration for the art work you see here, Mrs. Penney read author Karen Beaumont’s “I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!” with her 1st grade Art Students.

Written to the tune of "It Ain't Gonna Rain No More,"the story centers on an aspiring young artist who gets loves painting…creating elaborate paintings on the ceiling and the walls and just about everywhere until until mama shouts, "  Ya ain't gonna paint no more!" and stashes the boy's art supplies on the top shelf of a closet. What happens next? You will have to ask a first grader!

To create these works of art students first traced both of their hands working in pairs if needed. They then used watercolor paints to add color and oil pastels to add patterns

The backgrounds were created with printmaking techniques utilizing Primary Colors.

Our young art students also had the opportunity to work on their cutting and gluing skills- cutting out each hand carefully and gluing them on to their backgrounds and then outlined them with black crayon to add emphasis.
