Community Work & Exhibitions

2018-2019 School Year
  • "Youth Art Month" 4th Annual celebration of Youth Art Month presented by the Ridgefield Elementary Art Department, in partnership with the Ridgefield Recreation Center. A selection of student artwork from each of the elementary schools showcases the work of young artists in our community. Youth Art Month encourages support for quality school art programs. The program provides a medium for recognizing the unique skills developed through the visual arts including: Problem solving, Creativity, Observation, Communication
    *Special thanks to our Elementary PTA’s for their support and supplying each school with display boards to make this display possible. March 7 - April 30th, 2016.
  • Life at Farmingville, Collaborative Mural/Paint on hardboard. Created by the hands of our 2018-2019 school year students under the direction of visiting artist Richard Price and Art Teacher Rachael Penney. Made possible by the Farmingville PTA. 
  • "Art Under the Stars", District Wide One Night Only Exhibition. Featuring the work of our RPS 3rd Grade students. In partnership with the Aldrich Contemporary Museum. Friday January 18th, 2018 5pm-8pm.

2017-2018 School Year
  • "The Art Walk @ Farmingville" Our annual student art exhibit event featuring art work from every grade level. With music played by the Farmingville String Quartet. With support from the PTA we also have an evening book fair and local food vendors present. May 31st 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM.

2016-2017 School Year
  • "The Art Walk @ Farmingville" Our annual student art exhibit event featuring art work from every grade level. With music played by the Farmingville String Quartet. With support from the PTA we also have an evening book fair and local food vendors present. May 19th 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. Ribbon cutting @ 5:45 PM. 
  • "Youth Art Month"  Ridgefield Recreation Center. 2nd Annual Exhibit in celebration of Youth Art Month presented by the Ridgefield Elementary Art Department, in partnership with the Ridgefield Recreation Center.   • "Holiday Parking Signs"  in cooperation with the Ridgefield Parking Authority and Chamber of Commerce. Farmingville Art Students design and decorate sign covers that would be put over parking signs in designated downtown areas. November 2016 through December 2016.

  • “Farmingville, Where Good Things Grow”, Collaborative Glass Mosaic. Created by the hands of our 2015-2016 school year students under the direction of visiting artist Cynthia Fisher of Big Bang Mosaics and Art Teacher Rachael Penney. Made possible by the Farmingville PTA. 
  • "Bookmarks Mark Ridgefield" A co-sponsored project by The Ridgefield Library and The Aldrich Museum as part of the Aldrich Museum’s exhibiting artist Ruth Root’s ongoing project exploring her love of books. Through a collaborative effort between Ms. Wallace our Library Media Specialist and Mrs. Penney, Farmingville adopted this project and brought it to our 3rd through 5th grade students. Each student in grades 3-5 will had the opportunity to make a bookmark using materials supplied by the artist. Finished bookmarks will then be place in a library book, either here at the Farmingville School Library or at the Ridgefield Library with a tag indicating the nature of the project and Farmingville School’s participation.

  • "ARCH for Kids, Kids for Community", STEAM based project exhibit in partnership with Ridgefield Recreation Center. Grant funded by Ridgefield Education Foundation for this pilot program to be run at FES and BES. November 17, 2015.

  • "Farmingville Where Good Things Grow" Painted Paper Mosaic.  Created by the hands of our 2014-2015 school year students under the direction of  Art Teacher Rachael Penney.
