INSTALLED!!!!!!

Our 50th Anniversary Mural is now installed in our main hallway!

Please take a peek upon entering the building. A special thanks goes out to our Maintenance Department for the time and care they took preparing the mural for installation and ordering the special materials needed to do so!

Before installation a lexan covering had to be custom cut and then attached to the mural with rubber washers as spacers. Once secure it could then be secured to the wall.

This paper mosaic was created in the Spring of 2015 under the direction of Mrs, Penney. EVERY Farmingville Elementary School student received an opportunity to work on and add pieces to the mural.

Using thier hands....

4th Grade
OP ART
“HANDS”
Farmingville’s 4th Grade Art Student’s learned about the Op art movement and also looked at art work created by Op artist’s Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley. Op art, also known as optical art, is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions.

To create these Op art hands students utilized the element line, beginning at the edge of their paper with a straight line and then “bumping up” when the marker went over their hand. Students chose complimentary color combinations to create a pattern of color with their lines to add to the effect.
