1st Grade Mixed Media Fall Landscapes
In their art class the 1st graders learned about landscapes and how to use a horizon line in their artwork to create a sense of depth and space. To create their fall
landscapes, students first used the element of line to create their
horizon line and then used contour lines (outline) to draw a house. Using tempera
cakes they added color to their drawings, making sure that the color of both
the sky and the ground met at the horizon line.
Each student created their
trees trunks and additional features with oil pastels. As a finishing touch to
their landscapes students used warm colors to add leaves to their
trees with liquid tempera paint.
