Our youngest Art Students here at Farmingville have been studying the elements of Line, Shape and Color. In their most recent project they used all 3 elements with an emphasis placed on primary and secondary colors.
Students began their work by creating backgrounds using secondary colors. First selecting a purple, orange or green piece of paper and then used poster paint sticks to create various types of lines utilizing only secondary colors.
They then selected from a variety of different geometric shapes cut from black paper to create their cities, first placing them and then rearranging to each create an original composition. When each student was satisfied with the arrangement of their buildings they glued them in place.
Using primary colors students added windows and then added snow with white tempera paint...
...to complete their cities in the snow.
