Artist Cynthia Fisher of Big Bang Mosaics will be spending four days in the art room working with our young artists. This program could not be possible without funding from our PTA and donations from our FES community. A very sincere thank you goes out to all that helped make this possible.
Artist in Residence -
About
the Artist:
Cynthia
Fisher (Big Bang Mosaics) is a professional, award winning mosaic artist that
creates installations in public, residential and corporate settings nationwide.
She is a teaching artist and specializes in school residencies and travels the
country to teach workshops at several renowned art and craft centers across the
country.
The
Residency:
Before
the residency all FES students in
the school will create drawings based on the chosen theme for possible
inclusion in the mural. Ms. Fisher will arrange concepts and images from the
drawings into the final mural design.
The
residency will take place over a 4 day period. Every FES student will participate in assembling the mosaic murals.
This
artist residency aligns with National
Core Arts Standards and will aid in the creation and enhancement of a
strong K-5 Visual Art Program at Farmingville Elementary School. It supports a vision that promotes student
engagement, stimulates innovation, communication, creativity, and critical
thinking skills and meets the need of all students while also bringing the
entire FES community together to work towards and achieve a common goal.
