All Around My Community
As an extension to their museum visit to the Katonah Museum of Art and in, Mrs. Penney arranged for 3rd grade visits to participate in a 2 day studio unit with ArchForKids, an organization that brings engaging hands- on learning experiences grounded in architecture , design, engineering and urban planning.
Third grade students became architects and engineers in training. They learned what constitutes an ideal community and then constructed 3D facades using pictures of buildings of their town. Students worked in pairs or trio's to complete their structures and then places them on a street to create their own vision of an ideal community.

the architectural details as well as some of the notable structures of
Ridgefield.
